Editors

Dear Editor,

Welcome — and thanks for visiting!

Although this is my personal blog, it will provide you with a feel for my areas of expertise: Travel (budget, family and adventure), Family (tips & lists, personal anecdotes and travel) and Popular Media (headlines, books, movies and magazines). I also enjoy writing about women’s issues and mental health.

If you like what you read here on my blog, perhaps you’ll consider me for an upcoming assignment with your magazine, newspaper, e-zine or commerical blog? Or perhaps you’ve landed on this page because I’ve sent you a query letter. In either case, I hope you’ll give me a shot!

My experience includes hundreds of published pieces for the corporate world. (You can view my portfolio samples here.) And more recently, I have expanded into the travel writing genre. I’m a work in progress, but my published clips to date include the following:

Montreal is aflutter this weekend,” The Ottawa Citizen
A short service article on the Insectarium’s annual monarch buttery release.

“5 best men’s rooms with a view,” The Ottawa Citizen
A round-up article for the New Year’s Eve edition of the Travel Section.

“5 best wine touring regions in Australia,” The Ottawa Citizen

“Travelling ‘blind’,” The Ottawa Citizen
A first-person feature piece on how to use blind-bidding websites to pull-off a budget trip to New York City.
